Ahhh! It appears I have hit a glass ceiling.
I was very busy yesterday with work, and today had to work and then sit through Norwich getting trounced 7-1 at home by Colchester United – leaving me in no mood for writing again today.
Tomorrow I will be workjing again, and then I will be with family from Mon-Sat so the next week could well be pretty bare on NoodleNews.
Stick with us, as a full service will be resumed after then :)
Thanks!

I don’t really know where to start with my round-up of what I saw yesterday – partly because the first time I listened to a Frankmusik track was at about 10pm on Tuesday night… mainly because I had seen a review of Confusion Girl on the Radio 1 Chartblog a few hours previously.
So, it was kinda strange when I popped into HMV Norwich at 5pm yesterday to find Frankmusik appear in the corner of the store and perform 4 tracks to a group of about 50 or 60 people. Armed with just a keyboard, microphone and a couple of speakers (as well as an all important sound man) he performed 3 stripped down versions of tracks from the debut album Complete Me (which was released on Monday) as well as a Pet Shop Boys cover track.
All tracks were performed brilliantly, really showing off the man’s talent and brilliant voice. So much so in fact, that even my Mum remarked on how talented he was! Everyone watching seemed thoroughly impressed, and I was so much so that I then bought the CD and got it signed (as well as having a quick picture done too!)
Here’s a video from YouTube which somebody recorded in the Liverpool HMV. The performance he gave there was very similar to the one in Norwich:

I’ll be reviewing the album tomorrow sometime. From what I’ve heard so far – it is WELL worth a purchase!

The micro-blogging service Twitter is currently broken… According to their status pages they are “defending against a denial-of-service attack, and will update status again shortly.”

Twitter's Suffering...
Although not technicaly the kind of news I would normally blog about on here – it does mean a serious source of communication has been lost – and one of the main sources for hits on this site has been taken out too. Oh well… hopefully it will all be over in a few hours. I haven’t experienced a single Twitter outage since I’ve started using the service – but have now had to cope for 2 hours + without it… A scary thought for a twitter addict!
UPDATE: Twitter is now back up and running, though is fairly slow at updating and posting tweets. The site is still defending from the attack and is recovering slowly.

Ah, another week, another kids film with the added joy of 3D added in. Whether it’s worth paying £1.50 (ish) extra each time you want to view a film in 3D is a totally different argument and can be saved for another blog post. What is true however is that 3D does add a lot to a movie, and makes cinema-going that little bit more magical – especially for younger visitors.
Walt Disney films have always captured the imagination of kids (young and old) and have always felt magical in some way – any trip to Disneyland certainly connects this. Dissapointingly, G-Force 3D seems to lack some of this classic Disney magic. Whilst the film itself is an enjoying watch, it did not captivate or humour me as much as other Disney films have in the past.
Okay, so it is a kids film, and rated a PG – maybe I’m just not meant to get it… Yet, classic Disney animations, like Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo and (my favourite of all time) Toy Story all manage to captivate audiences young and old, almost with two layers of scriptwriting for the adults and the children. It’s this lack of clever jokes and so on that makes G-Force (at times) feel a little one-dimensional.
The story is fairly standard really. Three guinea pigs (and a mole) are part of a secret Government unit of spies. The unit is set to be shutdown and so the guinea pig team (named G-Force) have to pretty much rescue the world from the evil Clusterstorm virus whilst proving they are worth FBI funding from the US Government. Of course, all the classic plot twists and turns are involved too – but I’ll save spoiling them for you as I don’t wish to ruin your enjoyment ;)

As with any animated film, it’s very hard to judge performances by voice actors. Having said this, all the voice acting is done brilliantly – with the actors lending their voices well to a bunch of rodents as hearing Penelope Cruz’s voice coming out of a guinea pig will always be surreal. The live action (yes, the film mixes live action with animated guinea pigs… if I failed to mention this already, it’s because it’s a rather dodgy area of the movie) acting is slightly wooden at times, in particular with the FBI Agents. At times it feels as though any real acting skills have been dropped simply because ‘it’s a kid’s film’ and ‘those guinea pigs will be stealing the show anyway – why try to upstage them?’ Bill Nighy probably gives the most solid performance (though when is he ever particularly crap?) despite having a role that is not featured all that heavily through the flick.
Something that often makes me judge a film is how many times I look at my watch throughout it. Well, for G-Force, I really don’t remember checking the watch at all. Which is somewhat surprising considering I left the film a bit disappointed. At times, the film lacked humour and action – which left me confused as to what the genre of the film actually was. The acting was wooden at times, and the laughs were fairly few and far between. This is hardly a Disney classic, though was entertaining enough to sit through. It’s probably far more enjoyable for a younger audience – though Disney have managed to alienate the adult audience by failing to provide a two-toned movie like is usually on show.

This is a site for all the gaming nerds and music nerds out there to combine together…
Basically, the site takes music and turns it into an 8-bit version of the original track, thus making every song sound like it was from a retro 80s or 90s video game. Genius, huh?
It works so well – and even my favourite song ‘Mr. Brightside’ by The Killers has been given a worthwhile ‘makeover.’ Take a listen:

The fiesty pop sensation from Blackpool, Little Boots, is back with the second release from her critically acclaimed album ‘Hands.’
The song gained great publicity recently – being used exclusively as the theme for T4 On The Beach and one can certainly see why. The great storming synths at the start of the song set the tone for a song that paces itself brilliantly and incorporates the God of all good pop songs: a catchy chorus. Boots’ voice is hushed and sexy enouh in the verses, before she transforms the emphasis of the song in a rousing chorus which is likely to remain in your head for hours.
This combination of synth, beat, verse, catchy bridge and chorus, synth, beat repeat certainly makes for one hell of a tune – and it’s one that I expect to do well this week in the chart.
Remedy is out to download now.

Just so you know, this is not a review as I do not own MSVGO yet. I have seen the trailer and am very hyped for what could possibly be the “best, worst film ever.” It’s already out in the US and the DVD is released here next Monday (10th August). Reviews are out though, and it’s dividing opinion, with the film being described both as a “cult classic” and a “terrible movie.”
The film’s makers, “The Asylum Home Entertainment” are specialists in the straight-to-DVD genre, and MSVGO is no different. The simple plot is that a ‘Mega Shark’ and a ‘Giant Octopus’ are found in the ocean, frozen from about 10 million years ago. The two come alive, and, ingeniously they are pitted against each other in a massive battle which aims to eradicate them both from the Earth. Who knows what happens at the ending, but apparently a sequel is highly likely. Score!
The trailer for the film has received much exposure on the internet, racking up 1.5million views on YouTube. Just for your viewing pleasure, here it is:
Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus is released on Monday 10th August, and is available from Play.com for £5.99 with a free A3 poster.
